Visa to the Maldives
A tourist visa for up to 30 days is issued free at the airport. Your passport should be valid of at least 6 months after the end of your trip. You may be asked to show a return ticket with the date of departure or documents confirming your hotel/yacht booking.
Prohibition
Attention! There is a prohibition in the Republic of Maldives. Carriage of alcohol is a criminal offense. Even if alcohol is bought in Duty-Free, it would be confiscated in the Maldives. You can buy alcoholic drinks only inside hotels, in restaurants and bars.
Customs
You can’t bring spearfishing guns, pork, religious objects, narcotic substances, pornographic materials, fire weapons, chemicals, or explosives into the country.
Weekends
Weekend days – Friday and Saturday – do not affect the operation of island-hotels.
Domestic Animals
Dogs are not allowed to enter the country. Your dog can be confiscated for the duration of your vacation.
Communication
The official language of the Republic of Maldives – Dhivehi – belongs to the Indo-Iranian group of languages. The second official language is English. Staff of the Maldives hotels speaks English, and there is Russian-speaking staff.
Weather
The tourist season is all year round, but the high season is from October to May. The air temperature is 28-32°C, the water temperature is 24-28°C. Storms are extremely rare.
